Information About The General Rules Of 7 Card Stud
Many people wonder about the 7 card stud variant of standard poker games and confuse it with the Texas Hold 'Em rules because they feel the essentially both the games are quite like each other as both have the option of choosing the best 5 cards from a selection of 7 cards dealt but this is not the case. The 7 card stud is quite unlike the Texas hold 'em game.
The set up for the game is quite easy. One single set of standard 52 playing cards is used. In this game there are usually 2 to 7 players per game. If there is to be an eight player added then the rules need to be changed slightly to accommodate the use of so many cards at once. In the case of experienced players where the players do fold quite early into the game a ninth player may also be added. But that is in the more advanced stages of the game. Once the cards have been shuffled and the dealer been decided upon the game can start.
In the first round each player is dealt 3 cards in which the first two are face down and the third is face up. The players are not usually allowed to see the face down cards and the betting can begin with the player with the lowest card. This form of play is called the Bring In. it is a form of forced bet, which is to say that the player with the high cards will not be able to check in this round and thus the pot will grow. The Bring In may be eliminated altogether if the round starts off with the player with the highest card. In such cases they have the option to check. There are also games in which the player to the left of the dealer starts the play.
The next card or the fourth card that is dealt is face up and now each player has two cards face up. On the basis of these 2 cards the play begins again. Since there are only two cards in question the only hand that can be made is a One Pair. The betting now resumes on the basis of the highest pair holder or in the case of no pairs on the table, the player with the higher cards starts. The game continues till all the players have made their play and the every raise on the table has been called or levelled. The fifth and sixth cards are also opened one at a time, face up, and after each card is dealt a round of betting is conducted. The last card or the seventh card is always dealt face down and the player who started the betting in the Sixth Street or sixth card phase must start again. Once all the final bets are in there is a showdown where all seven cards are opened and placed on the table. Now the strongest 5 cards are picked by each player and the highest hand is declared the winner.
